Dr. Reid McLean Wiest, Director
/ Bass
Reid has had a nearly lifelong interest in a cappella singing.
He founded Macappella, a male quartet at Archbishop MacDonald
H.S. in Edmonton, which has since expanded to become a school
club. He also was a founding member of Edmonton’s Sven
Blvd, a mixed sextet. He has a broad choral experience with
the University of Alberta Mixed Chorus, Edmonton’s Bel Canto
and Unitus ensembles, and the Youth Singers of Calgary.
Reid is one of the longest serving members of OnCue, having joined
in 1996, and has been a leader in the group since 1997. One of
his key contributions to the group is the numerous original compositions
and arrangements he has added to their repertoire.
Outside of OnCue, Reid also contributes to the Youth Singers
organization as a composer/arranger, a director and vocal coach.
He also practices Family Medicine in Calgary, and enjoys his spare
time with his wife, Beth, and their son, Thane.
